Tamar's Tallit

By Sharon Landecker on Feb 01, 2013 in Custom Traditional Designs

Tamar wanted a tallit that was symbolic of her name, and therefore chose to make palm fronds for her stripes. She also wanted stars, as if one was looking up through the palm fronds in a sukkah, and musical notes. Tamar loves music, but is also a dancer, and wanted this all represented in her tallit. She also wanted a soft, flowy fabric so chose a purple mottled rayon. She designed each side of the tallit to have 2 palm frond stripes made from a beautiful purple and green batik (which her mother found in my stash) with a deep purple stripe in the middle with silver stars, green musical notes, blue galaxy like staves and a blue dancer on a green treble clef. When you click on the photos, you'll see the wonderful detail that Tamar designed.
