Jolisa's Tallit

By Sharon Landecker on May 07, 2012 in Custom Scene Designs

Jolisa's tallit was designed to represent her Jewish and African heritage. The body of the tallit is of a gorgeous Cambodian silk weave of 3 different colors, which make it a wonderfully textured rust fabric.

There are 2 African dancing women on the front, and a tree of life (with 54 leaves to represent 3 x chai for the 3 in their family) on the back. The tree's roots are wrapped around a book, as Jolisa loves to read.  The atarah is appliqued with Shalom - in Hebrew.

The lining is a beautiful complimentary African cotton fabric.

An extra litte personal touch was an embroidered little Sammy the Spider on her name square.
